Bethanie's Books
Bethanie is my 9 year old daughter, who upon seeing me write stories, took quite an interest in creative writing. She has some pretty great ideas and I believe her writing is far beyond her years. The stories below have not been edited - they are directly from her scrap paper (i've even kept the spelling errors). Enjoy!
How To Make Boys Mad
Pg. 1 First, make him get his ears pierced.
Pg. 2 Then, make him wear lipstick. Hot pink lipstick.
Pg. 3 Make him wear a fairy princess dress with ballet shoes, tights and old fashioned underwear.
Pg. 4 Give him a purse. On the day of Halloween, he has to wear the costume. The purse is for candy.
Pg. 5 That's it. The end of How to Make Boys Mad.
Tower of Crystals
(Tower of Criystulses)
Prologue
I am living at Shadows farm. I have lots of friends and I am making new ones every day. So, well, I think that's a good thing, right? But you're not getting my point. I'm moving. To a new town and it's got a weird name, too. I mean really, who names a town Crystal town? It's just strange if you ask me.
Chapter One - The Beging (Beginning)
"Elizabeth, time to go! No time to waste!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming. Shesh," I said. Before I left, I grabbed my cat and dog and got in the car. An ower (hour) on the road before I say something. "Hey, Dad. Why is the towns name Crystal Town?" I ask.
My dad does not speak for a moment. And then says, "Good question. Here, I got this from the library about it," he said, handing back to me a book.
On the cover, I read aloud, "Tower of Cyrstals." I open the book, Tower of Crystals. The first page says this, "Hello. Welcome to the Tower of Crystals. Here you'll see that the crystals here are popular. The one crystal - the magic crystal - is the one we're all searching for. It contains specil (special) powers." I stop there in my book. I close it and then look out the car window. Thinking about what I read.
"We're here," said my mom.
"Already," I said.
"Quick trip," said my imaginary friend.
"Hey," I shout. "Lucky, get over here, now!" I said. I came to a stop. "Wow," I said. "A tree house! Cool," I shout and start to climb up the ladder. When I got to the top, I sat in the corner and read Tower of Crystals. Finally, I look up from my book, look around the room. "Empty," I said. Then in the back I spot a chest with a lock that's dangling on the side. I open it up. Inside there's a glowing crystal. Nice, I keep it secret. I left the tree house and head inside for dinner. Tacos were on the table.
"Ready to eat?" said my mom.
"Yeah," I said.
After dinner I went to my room for bed. I put the crystal on my dresser. Got in bed and fell asleep. I heard my mom and dad tucking in my little sister. Then they went to bed too. 12:00 I heard a nois (noise). I got up. A person was in my room. He stole my srystal, he jumped out the window, I screamed, "No, they're mine!"
Then everybody got up.
And ran into my room. By the tim (time) they all got there he was gone. My mom and dad said, "What happened?" sounding woried (worried) and confuisd (confused) at the same time.
"A guy. He stole my crystals"
"What crystals?" said my paronts (parents)
"The glowing one. The One in my book."
"Relax," said my parents, "You probably had a bad dream, that's all."
I listened to them, went to sleep and woke up in the morning hoping that my crystal would be there, but sadly, they were wrong. Instead, in it's plac (place), liyed (layed) a note. It red (read) this.
I'm small
I'm fast
I grow big
and am hot
said the note.
I did not get it, but still the words echoed in my head throughout the day. I went to bed to see if it was a dream. But no. So sadly, the next day, I went to school. I felt nervus (nervous) on the bus. I was scared.
